These 7 fade hairstyles are the most popular
A short hairstyle can be versatile and colourful. The fade, or satyr, is one of the most popular short haircut techniques that will jazz up any hairstyle. There are several versions, so everyone can easily find the one that suits them best. Whether you want a more understated look or a more powerful one, you can have both. The key is to find a version that you can wear with confidence. To do this, you need to know what you can afford and what is too much. We show you the best fade hairstyles!
The fade, or satire
Almost everyone has heard the term fade, but few people know what it really means. The satyr is a haircutting technique where the length of the hair is gradually faded from top to bottom. It fades to the skin, the question is at what height it should start. The higher the fading starts, the higher the fade. There are three fades to choose from: low, medium and high.
Low, medium and high fade
The different fade techniques, as I mentioned above, differ in the height at which the fade reaches the skin. In the case of low fade, the skin is only visible at a low level, covering a small area. In a medium fade, the transition to the skin covers a larger area and the hair starts to appear higher than in a low fade. With a high fade, a transition from the skin over half the head is the boldest choice.
In the case of fade, it is also necessary to take into account the shape of the head as well as individual characteristics, especially the ears. If you have very protruding ears, you should choose a low to medium fade. The more and more spectacular your hair is in the ear area, the less it highlights it. If your forehead is too high, this is also the set-up.
Best fade hairstyles
In fact, the fade style can be paired perfectly with any hairstyle. The focus is only on the shape of your face! The result will be perfect if the hairstyle suits you, so much so that it highlights your best features and takes away from your least favourite ones. You need a good barber who understands the proportions and can work with them. At G-cutz barber shop, we take your hair before every haircut and help you determine the hairstyle and length that is best for you!
1. Slicked back
The slicked-back hairstyle is basically one of the most popular hairstyles for men. Its biggest advantage is that it is ageless. Perfect for all ages, whether young or old. For a backcombed hairstyle, all you have to do is let your hairstyle grow over. For a decent slicked-back hairstyle, you’ll need at least 15 cm of top hair length. The side parts can be quite short! The height of the fade technique you want to use on the sides depends on how strong you want your look to be. If you’re going for a totally modern look, feel free to ask for a high fade! If you want to keep the figure more subdued, stick with a low fade!
2. Pompadour
The pompadour, like the slicked-back, is hugely popular. Very modern, which is both youthful and elegant. The pompadour is long on top and short on the sides, which is why it is perfect when the sides are completed with a fade. The pompadour, when combined with a low fade, retains its elegant lines, but when combined with a high fade, the result is more modern.
3. Comb over
The comb-over is a modern hairstyle in itself, but when used with a fade technique, it is even more so. Basically, we’re talking about a hairstyle where the hair is slightly longer on top. This is moulded from left to right, and the selection is usually accentuated by machine reinforcement. It’s not set in stone, you can stick to the natural range if you prefer. The sides of the thigh over are usually short, which can be highlighted with a fade technique. You can get a modern hairstyle with a low, medium or high fade, it’s just a question of what you can afford. You can’t miss with any of them!
4. Side part
The side part is also a side part, but the styling can be done from left to right and right to left. The side beach is basically a slightly more conservative style, perhaps because of its origins. It was in the 1970s that this style started to spread, mainly among lawyers and doctors. They were also cut short on the sides, but often with a classic scissor cut, not a machine cut. However, a fade side part is a great way to modernise an otherwise classic hairstyle. It looks great on all face shapes and goes very well with any outfit, whether you want a low, medium or high fade technique.
5. Quiff
We come to a gem, the real jolly joker. A quiff is basically a female magnet, but when you add to it, the result is not without its appeal. The quiff is the idea that the hair is long on top and short on the sides. The upper part should have a slightly dishevelled, untidy effect, with its own tidiness. It looks best with curls and waves, but it’s also a great choice for straight hairstyles. Feel free to ask for a high fade technique on the side, it really brings out the texture of the quiff. However, if the high fade is too much, the medium or low version will not make your haircut any less!
6. Buzz cut
The buzz cut is a real badass, military haircut that many people think is too easy. It’s true that a buzz cut is a hairstyle cut to one length with a machine, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add a little something extra. If you’re the typical person who looks brutally good with short hair but feels too short to get it down to one length with a machine, then jazz up the sides with a little fade technique. You get a very modern result, and last but not least, you won’t have any problems with your hairstyle until your next barber appointment.
7. Spiky
The good old spike. No need to think about the sky-high spikes of the 70s, let’s just stick with today’s version. Spiky hair is a very aesthetic, textured cut that is both modern and clean. The spiky effect is achieved with a specific cutting technique, you don’t need to have spiky hair. The spiky can be worn with longer and shorter sides, but perhaps unsurprisingly, most people ask for short sides. It looks great with fade, as the texture is much more pronounced. No matter what height fade you use, the results will speak for themselves. Let your vision and your talents decide!
